At Cum Cura, we believe in the power of connection. Our buddy system is a wonderful example of this: a network of experienced peers ready to offer fellow patients a listening ear, recognition, and hope. Not healthcare professionals, but people who know how it feels because they have lived it themselves.

A Strong Start: The First Training Day

On February 1, 2025, the first training day took place under the expert guidance of psychologist Catherine Poissonnier. With her many years of experience in coaching and self-development, she led our future buddies through an intense and enriching program. The focus was on empathetic listening, setting boundaries, and supporting without taking over. Participants learned how to share their own story appropriately without dominating the conversation.

Reflection and Growth: The Follow-Up Day in June

In June, the buddies came together again for a follow-up day. This day was dedicated to deepening, refining the program, and making clear agreements. It was a valuable moment of exchange, where experiences were shared and the bond between the buddies was strengthened. These meetings will take place three times a year as fixed anchors for professional growth and connection.

What Makes a Good Buddy?

A good buddy is someone who:

  • listens actively without judgment,
  • knows and respects their own boundaries,
  • handles personal information discreetly,
  • asks questions that lead to insight,
  • and above all: stands beside the peer, not above or below.

Buddies are not there to solve problems but to search together for meaning and possibilities. They offer structure, recognition, and a safe space to talk.

Present at CumCura Day

Our buddies will also be present at CumCura Day. They are available for anyone who wants to learn more about the program or simply have a chat. It’s a great opportunity to get to know this warm and committed group of volunteers.

A Lasting Commitment

Each buddy commits for an agreed period and is supported by Cum Cura through training sessions and coaching. They are not only a support for peers but also for each other.
